For those of you who read the Cowboy Chronicle, you may be aware that the museum honoring Roy Rogers and Dale Evans moved in 2003 from Victorville, California, to Branson, Missouri.
Sadly, with dwindling crowds, the Branson facility closed on December 9, 2009. Through several different venues, the Roy Rogers and Dale Evans collection of memorabilia has been offered at auction to collectors.
In December 2009, at the Country Music auction held by world-renown Christie’s auction house, Roy Rogers’ iconic Gibson Super 400 guitar sold for $43,750, which was over 10 times the auction estimate prior to the sale. Rogers’ Sons of the Pioneers hand-stitched vest sold for $11,875, which was over 4 times the pre-auction estimate.
In January 2010, additional memorabilia was auctioned at the High Noon Western Americana auction in Mesa, Arizona. Additional Roy Rogers and Dale Evans memorabilia is scheduled to appear at upcoming auctions at Christie’s and at High Noon Western Americana in April 2010 and in July 2010.
